If I do not have a family doctor in BC, do I bring an ADHD diagnosis to a walk-in clinic?

If you do not have a family doctor in British Columbia, bringing an ADHD diagnosis to a walk-in clinic is a reasonable practical step, but it does not guarantee a stimulant prescription. Unattached patients commonly use walk-in clinics and Urgent and Primary Care Centres while they wait on the Health Connect Registry. A licensed walk-in physician or authorized NP may continue or decline ADHD medication after they review what you brought. Diagnosis letters, old prescriptions, and pharmacy records help the clinician understand your history; they do not create a duty to prescribe a controlled drug, and two clinics in the same city can apply different internal policies on unattached patients. This is only my own experience as an unattached patient in B.C. I brought my ADHD diagnosis letter to a walk-in. They looked at it and still would not start a stimulant. They told me to stay on the Health Connect Registry and try another walk-in site later. I am describing my visit, not what every unattached person should expect.
