You do not use PharmaCare Plan G for ADHD medication in British Columbia if you do not meet the plan’s defined financial and clinical need; Plan G is not a default ADHD top-up for people who can otherwise afford treatment. Official Plan G material describes 100 percent coverage of eligible psychiatric medications when cost is a serious barrier. Prescribers apply. Regular coverage is one year. Patients declare that medication cost is a barrier, that they have no other coverage for those drugs, and that they meet the published income test, typically an adjusted family net income around $42,000, with additional room per dependent in the application wording.
Rules, coverage and referral pathways vary by province and can change; confirm the current position with the relevant institution or provincial program.

This is only my personal experience in B.C. My income was above the Plan G figure my clinic described, so they did not apply for Plan G. I registered for Fair PharmaCare and my doctor submitted Special Authority for lisdexamfetamine instead. I still had a deductible. I am not saying people without hardship should skip Plan G paperwork if they actually meet the official need test; I am only describing what happened in my case.
