Is Vyvanse completely free on Fair PharmaCare or is there a deductible first in BC?

Vyvanse is not completely free on Fair PharmaCare in British Columbia just because you are registered. Fair PharmaCare uses an income-based family deductible; eligible drug costs generally count toward that deductible first, then PharmaCare pays a share, then 100 percent of eligible costs after the family maximum. Drugs are not automatically free, and if you are not registered or income cannot be verified, a default high deductible can apply. Lisdexamfetamine, the generic for Vyvanse, is limited coverage and usually needs Special Authority based on a prior methylphenidate or dextroamphetamine trial. Special Authority makes the drug eligible under PharmaCare rules; it does not skip the Fair PharmaCare deductible. This is only my personal experience in B.C., not a rule for other income levels. I am on Fair PharmaCare. After Special Authority for lisdexamfetamine, I still paid the full eligible cost until my deductible was met. It was not free at the counter in January. Later in the year PharmaCare started paying a share. I am not saying Vyvanse becomes free for other people on Fair PharmaCare.
