Walk-in clinics, online doctors, and urgent care in British Columbia are not required to prescribe Concerta after you move, even if you used it elsewhere and even if you have no family doctor. C. clinician must be licensed and willing, and Concerta is a long-acting methylphenidate product that is also a controlled drug. MSP enrolment is about medically required physician services for eligible residents; it is not automatic drug coverage and it does not force a walk-in to prescribe. BC PharmaCare coverage for Concerta or listed long-acting methylphenidate generics often needs Special Authority limited-coverage criteria for patients six and older with ADHD who need twelve hours of coverage and who tried immediate-release or sustained-release methylphenidate or dextroamphetamine with unsatisfactory results after an adequate trial of at least one week, or who had intolerance; those criteria can change, so check the live limited-coverage page.
FasTreat also offers private online ADHD assessment and ongoing care, depending on your needs and clinical assessment.

This is only my experience after moving to B.C., not a rule for others. I went to a walk-in with my old Concerta bottle and they would not prescribe. They wanted a local family doctor and more history than I had printed. I was still sorting out MSP. A second clinic asked me to come back with paperwork. I am sharing a personal story, not saying every newcomer will be refused.

Different personal experience. An urgent primary care visit gave me a short methylphenidate supply after they reviewed out-of-province records, and they told me Special Authority and Fair PharmaCare were separate from the visit. A private online clinic quoted a fee I did not pay. Coverage and clinic policies were not the same in each place I tried. This is only what happened to me.
