You should not assume Biphentin is covered by Special Authority under BC PharmaCare, because the current official limited-coverage methylphenidate page lists Concerta, including listed generics, and Foquest, not Biphentin. There is no uniform official confirmation on that page that Biphentin is a current PharmaCare benefit. This is British Columbia provincial drug policy, not Medical Services Plan, which covers medically required physician services rather than prescriptions, and not a private-plan rule. Coverage varies by province. Coverage varies by insurance plan.
Rules, coverage and referral pathways vary by province and can change; confirm the current position with the relevant institution or provincial program.

This is only my experience at a B.C. pharmacy, not a province-wide guarantee. I asked whether Biphentin would go through Special Authority like Concerta. The pharmacist opened the current limited-coverage methylphenidate information and said Concerta and Foquest were named there, not Biphentin, and told me to have the clinic check the live Special Authority drug list. My plan still paid a private portion. I am not saying every pharmacist will quote the same screen.
