Switched from Concerta to Vyvanse after 6 months — my honest comparison (32F, inattentive)
Six months on Concerta 54mg, three months now on Vyvanse 40mg, and since I compulsively compared them in my notes app anyway, might as well post it.
Concerta: extremely reliable mornings. Desk-work focus was genuinely better. But 3pm arrived like a cliff, and I basically didn't eat between 8am and 8pm.
Vyvanse: no cliff, more of a slow dimmer switch. Mood is noticeably better — I stopped snapping at people around hour 8. Appetite still reduced but dinner exists again.
Neither: fixed my gift for losing keys, sadly.
One Canadian logistics note — generic methylphenidate sailed through my insurance, Vyvanse needed prior auth paperwork and 8 business days. Plan the gap.
The thing I can't settle: is "smoother" a real pharmacological property of lisdexamfetamine or did I just want the new thing to feel different? Curious what the clinical take is. 32F, inattentive, Ontario, for the demographic spreadsheet.

Opposite switcher checking in (Vyvanse→Concerta): the 'smoother' thing cut both ways for me. I missed knowing when my window was. With Concerta I schedule deep work 9-1 because I KNOW. Vyvanse's gentle all-day hum meant I kept waiting for a peak that never announced itself. Neither wrong — depends whether your life runs on sprints or marathons.

Did your appetite difference persist? 3 months is about when my Vyvanse appetite suppression started softening. Curious if the dinner-exists-again thing lasted for you or was honeymoon.

The prior auth warning deserves its own bold font. Mine took 9 business days and I white-knuckled 4 of them unmedicated because I didn't plan the overlap. Start the paperwork while you still have two weeks of the old script.
