The 6pm Vyvanse crash: irritable, exhausted, hungry. What actually helped you?

My family has started referring to 6pm me as "the other guy." Vyvanse 40mg, works beautifully all day, and then at 6pm the credits roll: irritable, exhausted, inhaling the pantry. A bigger lunch dulls it slightly. What has ACTUALLY moved the needle for people — timing changes? The protein thing? Exercise? Asking about a booster dose? And someone level with me: at what point does a crash go from "manage it yourself" to "this is a prescriber conversation"? 30F, BC, currently hiding from my own children in the bathroom typing this.

The bathroom-typing detail is too real. What moved my needle, ranked: (1) protein snack at 3pm — cheap, boring, weirdly effective, (2) moving my walk to 5:30pm right as the fade starts, (3) the booster-dose conversation with my psychiatrist, which I put off for months out of some weird stoicism and which took ten minutes to solve. Should have led with #3 honestly.

Reframe that helped our house: the crash isn't you being difficult, it's a predictable pharmacological event with a schedule. We literally put 'mum's meds fade' on the family calendar at 5:45. The kids stopped taking it personally, I stopped pretending it wasn't happening, dinner planning moved earlier. Logistics beat willpower.
