How do I know if I'm ready to consider ADHD medication?
I'm thinking about meds but not sure if I'm ready. How do doctors usually decide when someone's actually ready?

Readiness isn’t about certainty or desperation. Many people consider medication when they realize they’re working much harder than necessary to function, or when coping strategies alone aren’t enough. Being unsure is normal. Medication discussions are meant to be collaborative, not all or nothing.
Clinicians usually explore goals, concerns, expectations, and alternatives. Trying medication doesn’t mean you’re committing forever. It’s often framed as a trial to see whether symptoms improve and whether benefits outweigh side effects. Feeling curious but hesitant is a very common starting point.
