I can't express how helpful this has been. Simple process, and my practitioner is amazing, kind and insightful. I didn't feel rushed, I felt heard and would recommend this to anyone looking to discuss their treatment options.

Getting to Know MS. Alicia A.

Please provide a brief introduction of yourself and your background as an ADHD Nurse Practitioner
Nurse practitioner (all ages) for over 13 years, with experience working in hospital, clinica1. I have been a family and online settings. l did my Bachelor of nursing program at University of Lethbridge in 1999 and my Masters degree in advanced nursing practice through Athabasca University. l have always enjoyed helping people navigate their health needs no matter how complex they may be!
What can new clients expect from their first session with you?
During our first online session, l will ask you in depth questions about your health history and psychiatric history. We will review the screening tests and determine what they mean to you. We also look in depth at thevarious symptoms of ADHD to determine if you meet requirements for diagnosis, and what kind of ADHD you may have. We will discuss lifestyle and medication management options to help you feel your best!
What inspired you to become an ADHD Nurse Practitioner?
My strong interest in helping people with ADHD came from my experience working at a college where l met alot of students struggling with their grades and ability to finish assignments on time. This led me to initiate proper diagnosis (with a variety of screening tool) and from there l became increasingly more interested in the field of ADHD. l was very happy to see students get properly diagnosed and treated as their lives improved drastically in many ways following!
If you could give one message to someone struggling with ADHD, what would it be?
lf you feel like you may have ADHD, it doesn't hurt to be assessed. By doing so, you can learn how to manage your symptoms through a variety of lifestyle changes. Remember, medication is just one of the options, and not everyone with ADHD needs them. Your treatment is customized for you!
