ADHD motivation is highly context dependent. In person work provides external structure, social cues, and clear transitions. Remote work removes those anchors and increases self regulation demands. Hybrid work can be especially challenging because routines keep shifting. ADHD brains rely on environmental cues to initiate and sustain effort. When those cues change, motivation drops even if the work itself is the same. Clinically, this is expected. Motivation is not about caring more. It is about how much the environment supports regulation. Stable anchors matter more than flexibility for many people with ADHD.
