Many extended health drug benefits exclude compounding or pay it only with extra documentation, while some plans route unusual pharmacy invoices through a health spending account or another expense category if the booklet allows it; none of that should be treated as a universal Sun Life compounding policy. OHIP covers medically necessary physician and nurse practitioner services in Ontario, not the compounded product. This is only my personal experience submitting compounded HRT to Sun Life in Ontario. My booklet did not treat it like a normal DIN drug claim. I was told to send extra invoices and it still partly denied. I am not saying every Sun Life plan uses a medical-expense category; that was just my claims chat, not official advice for anyone else.
