Does OHIP+ cover estrogen patches for HRT if I have no private insurance in Ontario?

OHIP+ may cover estrogen patches used in hormone therapy for an eligible young person in Ontario if the product is listed on the Ontario Drug Benefit Formulary and Ontario’s OHIP+ rules are met; it does not automatically cover every patch, every brand, or anyone with a private drug plan. OHIP+ is Ontario only. Ontario’s official page states you are covered if you are 24 or younger, have OHIP coverage, and are not covered by a private plan. Coverage stops on your 25th birthday or if you become covered by a private plan. University enrolment by itself is not the test. This is only my own experience as a student in Ontario with no private drug plan. I was 22, my prescriber wrote estradiol patches, and the pharmacist checked the formulary before filling. OHIP+ paid the listed product that month. When I later went on a parent’s plan for a summer job, the pharmacy said I was no longer in OHIP+. I am not saying every estrogen patch is a benefit or that this would happen to someone else.
