Very normal. Many people feel relief because things finally make sense, but also grief for years spent struggling without answers. It’s common to replay your past with new understanding and feel sadness, anger, or compassion for your younger self all at once. This emotional mix doesn’t mean the diagnosis is wrong. It means it matters. ADHD diagnoses often come with an identity shift, where self blame is slowly replaced with explanation. Processing that takes time. Feeling both validated and unsettled is part of integrating the diagnosis.
