Can I get Ozempic in Ontario with a normal BMI if Felix and my family doctor refuse?

A normal BMI plus refusals from a virtual clinic and from your family doctor does not open a public Ontario path to Ozempic, and this answer cannot promise that another clinician will prescribe it. Ontario Drug Benefit Limited Use for semaglutide injection is written for type 2 diabetes according to the published Limited Use notes; people who do not meet those LU criteria are not funded for Ozempic on that basis. A January 2024 Ministry of Health Executive Officer notice also said the Exceptional Access Program would not be used to provide Ozempic for other conditions. OHIP may cover a medically necessary physician or nurse practitioner visit in Ontario, but OHIP is not a drug plan, and a visit does not force a prescription. Paying cash still requires a licensed Ontario prescriber who, after assessing you, decides that the medicine is appropriate; clinics and family practices can decline, including when BMI is in a typical range and the request is for weight loss. This is only my personal experience in Ontario, not medical advice. My BMI was in the mid-20s. A virtual clinic and my family doctor both declined Ozempic. I did not find a third prescriber who would override that, and I did not get public drug coverage for it. Someone else's doctor might decide differently. I am only describing what happened to me.
