Why do I feel misunderstood in relationships even when I explain myself?
I try to explain how my brain works, but people still see it as excuses. Why is ADHD so hard to communicate?

If you are not treating your ADHD with medications and/or therapy, you could experience many people misunderstanding you and your condition.
Medication will allow you to communicate clearer and be heard. Many patients who come into my practice will say they have felt misunderstood their whole life before medication and/or therapy.
The diagnosis of ADHD may unlock many different areas of your life and allow you to slow your racing mind. This slowing will allow you to become more thoughtful to your partner and children. It will enable you to actually listen without interrupting.
When the brain fog lifts, you will see clearly how your communication was stilted and bogged down with too many words and thoughts all running together. Your disjointed sentences will be no longer. The medication and/or therapy will slow this all down and lift the fog that might have caused the miscommunication in the 1 st place.
