Is emotional overwhelm on meds a sign the dose is too high?
I’ve noticed when the dose goes up I get extra sensitive to tiny things.
Does that usually mean the dose overshoots?

It can be. When stimulant doses exceed what the brain needs, some people feel irritable, emotionally raw, or overly sensitive. Instead of feeling clearer, they feel wired or fragile.
However, timing also matters. Emotional dips when medication is wearing off can mimic overwhelm. That is called rebound and may require dose adjustment or coverage extension.
We look at patterns. When does it happen? How intense is it? Is sleep or appetite affected? A dose that is too high usually comes with other signs of overstimulation.
You should feel more regulated, not less. If overwhelm increases after dose changes, that is worth reviewing with your prescriber.
