Boring tasks provide very little dopamine, which makes them feel physically harder to start and sustain. ADHD brains are interest driven rather than importance driven. Even small tasks can feel impossible if they lack stimulation or meaning. This often leads to avoidance, procrastination, or intense frustration. Clinicians emphasize that this is a brain chemistry issue, not a values issue. Adding stimulation, breaking tasks into micro steps, or pairing them with something engaging can help bypass this barrier.
