Not sure if it's anxiety or sensory overload but loud noises feel physically painful. Anyone else?

That intense reaction can be related to sensory sensitivity, anxiety, trauma history, or nervous system dysregulation. ADHD brains often have lower sensory filtering thresholds. A sudden loud noise bypasses rational processing and activates the stress response instantly. Your body reacts before your mind catches up. If this happens frequently, grounding techniques and sensory tools like noise reducing headphones can help. If there is trauma layered in, therapy focused on nervous system regulation can be very powerful.
