Do sensory issues like hating supermarkets show up often in ADHD adults?
Supermarkets are my personal hell: bright lights, noise, too many choices. I come home exhausted and grumpy. Is this something other ADHD adults struggle with, or should I be thinking about other conditions too?

Yes, sensory overload is common. Bright lights, background noise, crowds, and too many choices can overwhelm the ADHD nervous system. It is not always autism. ADHD brains can struggle with filtering stimuli. When overstimulated, people feel irritable, fatigued, or shut down. Strategies like shopping at off peak times, using headphones, or having a list reduce cognitive load. Recognizing it as sensory overload rather than personal weakness helps reduce shame.
