Strattera 8-week review from someone who couldn't take stimulants (heart condition)

Heart condition means stimulants were never on the table for me, so here's the review I wish existed when my only option was atomoxetine. Weeks 1-3: nausea, and a strong suspicion I was paying $80/month for placebo. Almost quit twice. Week 4-5: caught myself finishing entire conversations without my brain wandering off mid-sentence. Subtle, but new. Week 8: I'd guess 70% of what people describe with stimulants. But it's *steady* — no crash, no watching the clock for wear-off, no "is it working today" lottery. The catch: it's slow, it's unglamorous, and you can't skip days. 41M, Ontario. If you're stimulant-ineligible and losing hope, this is your sign to give the boring option its 8 weeks. Question for clinicians — is week 8 roughly the ceiling, or does it keep building past that?

Week 6 Strattera here, needed to read this today. The 'is this placebo for $80' phase is REAL and nobody on the stimulant side of the forum gets it. Bookmarking your week-8 description as motivation to hold on.

Fellow cardiac-excluded person: ask your prescriber about the emotional flatness angle at your next check-in — atomoxetine gave me steadiness but also a gray filter for the first two months that eventually lifted. If you get that side effect, it's apparently dose-adjustable, wish I'd raised it sooner instead of assuming it was the price of admission.
