A clear ADHD referral is usually a request that a clinician can act on, not a special sentence that moves someone up a wait list. There is no magic phrase that triages ADHD faster, and copying a forum template is not a reliable way to get seen sooner. Helpful referral content is accurate clinical information: how long symptoms have been present, whether they started in childhood or were noticed in adulthood if that is known, and how they impair work, driving, parenting, or study. FasTreat also offers private online ADHD assessment and ongoing care, depending on your needs and clinical assessment.

My referral was a mess of adjectives and still nothing magic happened. I had childhood notes from my mum and I still felt like I was guessing what they wanted. I stopped looking for a phrase that supposedly jumps the queue. Different for me than people who say examples changed everything. Only my letter. I would not coach anyone on wording.

I rewrote my referral three times because I thought there was a magic sentence. There was not. What finally went in was how long this had been going on, that work and driving were falling apart, and that I wanted assessment not a specific drug. My GP still had to put it in their own words. I sat on that letter for weeks in my drafts folder. This is only my file in Ontario. I would not tell anyone a template will get them seen.
