Urgent requests trigger a sudden demand for task switching, prioritization, and action. In ADHD, that spike can overwhelm executive function and trigger a freeze or panic response. This is sometimes described as demand avoidance, but it is more accurately a stress response. The nervous system reacts before logic can catch up. Having a moment to pause or ask for clarification can reduce the intensity of this reaction.
