Combining a stimulant with a separate sleep medication can be done safely for some people under a prescriber's guidance, but routinely needing a sleep medication just to counteract an active stimulant is often treated as a signal worth investigating rather than simply a combination to maintain indefinitely. If the stimulant's timing or dose is the actual root of the sleep disruption, adding a second medication on top addresses the symptom while leaving the underlying cause, a dose or timing that isn't quite right for that person, unaddressed. If the change is persistent, distressing, or affecting daily functioning, contact your provider through the FasTreat portal rather than changing medication on your own.
