Can my school get me an ADHD assessment if my parents refuse consent in Ontario?

A school in Ontario cannot usually force a medical ADHD diagnosis if parents refuse consent for a health assessment, and a school-based identification is not the same as a physician diagnosis. School boards may offer informal classroom strategies or, with appropriate consent, consider board special-education procedures and an Individual Education Plan, but psychoeducational testing through the school typically requires parent permission. For health care, the Health Care Consent Act is capacity-based with no fixed age: a capable student may be able to consent to seeing a doctor or nurse practitioner even if a parent does not believe ADHD is real. This is only my personal experience as a student in Ontario, not a recipe for other schools. My parents would not consent to a school psychology assessment. I booked a family-doctor visit on my own as a capable teen and asked for a medical opinion. The school still would not start formal testing without a parent signature. I am not saying every board handles refusal the same way.
