Did anyone feel grief or anger after getting diagnosed later in life?
Part of me feels relieved, but another part feels sad about how much I struggled without knowing why. I’m also weirdly mad that no one caught it sooner. Is that a common reaction?

Yes, this is extremely common. Many adults feel relief because things finally make sense, but also grief for the years spent struggling without support. It’s normal to mourn the version of yourself who worked twice as hard without knowing why. Anger can come up too, especially toward systems or people who missed the signs.
Clinicians see this as a healthy part of processing a late diagnosis. These emotions don’t mean you regret the diagnosis. They mean it matters. With time, many people move from grief toward self compassion as past struggles are reframed with understanding instead of blame.
