Why do stimulants help me focus but not decision-making?
I can focus on tasks but decisions feel impossible. Why does that happen?

This is a really common frustration. Stimulants primarily improve attention, alertness, and task engagement, but decision making involves multiple executive functions like prioritizing, evaluating options, and tolerating uncertainty. Medication helps the engine run, but it does not always provide a map.
For many adults with ADHD, decision paralysis comes from overwhelm rather than inattention. Even when focused, too many options can stall progress. External supports like limiting choices, time boxing decisions, or using default rules often work better than trying to think your way through it.
