I'm organised but always mentally drained. Could that still be ADHD?

Yes. Being organised does not rule out ADHD. In fact, many adults with ADHD are highly organised because they have to be. Organisation can be a survival strategy, not a natural state. Lists, systems, calendars, and routines often exist to compensate for working memory gaps and attention regulation difficulties. The key clue is the cost. If staying organised requires constant effort, vigilance, and mental energy, and you feel drained even when things look together on the outside, that points toward internal regulation strain. ADHD isn’t about lack of effort. It’s about effort not being efficient. This is especially common in high achieving adults who internalize responsibility early and over function to avoid mistakes or judgment.
