Pharmacare BC and ADHD meds — what's actually covered once you're diagnosed?
Diagnosed last month, now decoding BC Pharmacare and it's… a lot. Income-based deductible I think I understand. What I can't figure out: which ADHD meds trigger Special Authority paperwork, and how much of a fight that is in practice.
People who've been through it — which med, did SA apply, did your prescriber handle the forms without prompting or did you have to push? And roughly what are you paying before/after deductible? Surrey, 38F, trying to budget for this before my first full refill.

Special Authority reality check from 18 months in the system: generic methylphenidate and amphetamine formulations were covered without SA for me; it was the long-acting brand-name tier (Vyvanse, Concerta-as-brand) that triggered paperwork. My prescriber's office filed it without my asking — but I've learned from this forum that's not universal, so the move is asking directly: 'does this need Special Authority and will your office file it?'

The income-based deductible is the real education: Pharmacare contributes basically nothing until your family deductible is met (percentage of income), so early-year fills can be full price even when 'covered.' Budget for January-you paying more than November-you. Fair Pharmacare registration is free and retroactive-ish — register BEFORE your first fill, not after, ask me how I know.
