Stimulants increase dopamine and norepinephrine, which improve task initiation and sustained attention. Once that focus turns on, the brain tends to lock onto whatever task is most immediately available or rewarding. Cleaning is concrete, visible, and has quick feedback, so it often becomes the target. This does not mean the medication is wrong. It means focus has been unlocked, but direction still matters. Without a clear plan, attention can default to tasks that feel satisfying rather than urgent. Gently setting an intention before meds kick in can help guide where that focus lands.
