If shared care falls apart, there is not one statute that names who must keep writing the stimulant. Shared care is an agreement. A GP is not forced by a general law to continue prescribing if they decline the arrangement. If the change is persistent, distressing, or affecting daily functioning, bring a brief timeline to the prescribing clinician rather than changing the dose independently.

When my GP stepped back I panicked about the next fill. I sent a short email to both offices asking who would write the next prescription, copying myself so I had a record. The specialist kept me on their books for a while. I felt like a hot potato. I did not adjust the stimulant myself. I would not pretend this is how every shared-care breakdown goes. Only mine.
