You can usually ask for a second ADHD opinion without firing your current doctor. A second opinion is another clinician's view. It does not automatically end the first relationship.

I was scared that asking would mean I had to leave. I said I wanted another view to help me decide, and I asked who would keep doing repeats in the meantime. Nobody packed me a discharge letter. It was still awkward in the waiting room the next time. I did not stop the medicine while I waited. This is only how my people handled it, not a guarantee.

I asked without making it a complaint. I even said I was not trying to replace anyone. The second assessment took its own referral and I kept the first psychiatrist for questions. Two inboxes was messy. I would not tell someone to fire a doctor just to get a second read. Just my overlapping appointments, not a model I would sell as easy.
