Perimenopause can make ADHD feel unmanageable for some people in their forties, and hormone replacement therapy may come up in the same appointments. HRT is a treatment discussion for menopausal symptoms. It is not an ADHD indication and it is not an ADHD treatment.

At 46 I was dropping balls I used to juggle, and I asked the ADHD clinician whether hormones were even part of the conversation. They did not hand me HRT as an ADHD fix. I still had to book menopause care separately, which took months on my provincial plan. I keep a list of night sweats versus lost keys. Only my forties, and I would not tell anyone HRT will quiet their ADHD.

Honestly HRT came up with my GP first, for sleep and flushes, not because anyone promised it would treat ADHD. I still needed the stimulant conversation on a different day. Some weeks I feel more like myself on both tracks, some weeks I do not. I did not start or stop anything from a thread. Just my overlapping appointments, and I would not tell anyone their forties will look like mine.
