Physically heavy feeling when overwhelmed — like moving through water. Anyone else?

Trying to describe something and curious if it lands for anyone else: when my to-do list crosses some invisible threshold, the overwhelm stops being mental and becomes physical. Limbs heavy. Moving through water. Sitting down isn't rest, it's sinking. The weird part: a nap does nothing, but somehow finishing one small stupid task sometimes lifts it entirely. Like the weight was the list, not the body. 31M, Ontario. Is this documented with ADHD overwhelm? And what's actually happening in that moment — is there a mechanism, or is this one of those "we observe it, we shrug" things?

The wading-through-water thing has a fan club here, welcome. Weirdest reliable fix, confirming yours: one small finished task lifts it. My theory-from-the-inside: the weight IS the unstarted list, somatized. A nap adds nothing because it's not fatigue; it's load. Whatever the mechanism, 'do one dumb small thing' outperforms every rest-based intervention I've tried.

Naming this feeling to my psychiatrist ('overwhelm that presents physically, resolves with task completion not rest') got an interested nod and a note — apparently the rest-doesn't-help detail is meaningful. Bring that exact phrasing. Also gently: if heaviness ever shows up WITHOUT the to-do-list trigger, that pattern's worth mentioning too, different differential.
