Can a CADDRA-trained nurse practitioner manage ADHD medication without mandatory CBT in Canada?

A nurse practitioner in Canada can manage ADHD medication without a legal requirement that you complete cognitive behavioural therapy first, including when that NP has taken CADDRA education, but CADDRA training does not create a national prescribing licence and does not bind any provincial drug plan. Prescribing authority is provincial. In Ontario, the College of Nurses of Ontario states that NPs who completed approved controlled-drug education may prescribe controlled substances, and that episodic care should prescribe the minimum until a regular provider is involved. In British Columbia, NP prescribing follows British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives standards. Many ADHD stimulants are federally controlled drugs, so extra documentation and monitoring still apply, and an NP may decline if they cannot safely take on the file. This is only my own experience in Ontario, not a national rule. I saw a nurse practitioner who mentioned CADDRA training. They started a stimulant after a history and physical and did not make CBT a condition of the prescription. They did ask me to consider counselling later if I wanted skills support. A friend in another city was told the NP there would not prescribe stimulants at all. I am not saying every NP works like mine.
