People do report that music feels less intense after starting ADHD medication, including that songs no longer hit in the same way. That is a community observation rather than a labelled side effect named as a music change, and the exact reason is not fully understood. Methylphenidate, a stimulant used for ADHD, is described by the NHS as increasing activity in brain areas that help control attention and behaviour. If the change is persistent, distressing, or affecting daily functioning, bring a brief timeline to the prescribing clinician rather than changing the dose independently. I noticed this the first month. Albums I used to blast in the car just sat there like background noise. I still liked the songs, they just did not give me that chest-thump anymore. I told my prescriber because I was worried I had gone numb. They did not say everyone loses music. I still listen, just more quietly, and I do not skip as much. This is only my experience, not a reason for anyone else to change their meds.

Different for me. Music still hits, but I actually finish a track instead of skipping every twenty seconds. The intensity dropped a bit and I miss the old rush, though I also do not spiral into one song for three hours anymore. I mentioned it at a follow-up. Nobody told me it was a required effect. I do not think everyone will feel this. Just my story.
