Reports of quieter, faster, or gone do not line up with a labelled inner-monologue effect on ADHD medicine. Product information does not describe stimulants as switching an inner voice on or off. The NHS says methylphenidate increases activity in brain areas that help control attention and behaviour. If the change is persistent, distressing, or affecting daily functioning, bring a brief timeline to the prescribing clinician rather than changing the dose independently. Different for me. Mine did not go quiet. If anything the commentary got more specific, like I could hear myself planning instead of looping. It did not feel faster or gone. I mentioned it because people online talked about silence and I was confused. My prescriber said people notice different things. This is just what happened to me, not a rule for anyone else.

The voice in my head got quieter, not gone. Before meds it was like three radio stations at once. Now there is one stream and I can actually finish a thought. The first week I sat in the kitchen and thought something was wrong because it was so still. I told my prescriber at follow-up. They did not say that happens to everyone. I still have thoughts, they just do not pile up the same way. This is only my experience, not something I would expect everyone to feel.
