Dry mouth is a labelled stimulant effect for some products, and headache can be a side effect as well, but the two are not always one hydration story. Headache on ADHD medication may relate to the medicine, to dehydration, to a caffeine change, to wear-off later in the day, or to something unrelated. Hydration is reasonable general care and may help some people who have been drinking very little. If the change is persistent, distressing, or affecting daily functioning, bring a brief timeline to the prescribing clinician rather than changing the dose independently. I get the dry mouth for sure. Headache is hit and miss. The week I cut coffee at the same time I started drinking more water, I could not tell which change did what. I wrote it down like a nerd and brought the note in. Nobody in my house had a clean answer either. I am not claiming water fixed me. Just the messy part of my afternoons.

My mouth goes dry by late morning and I used to assume every headache was thirst. I started carrying a bottle and some days the headache still showed up at three. I told my prescriber it was the afternoon pattern, not a theory about water. They did not treat me like I had failed at drinking. I still drink more than I used to because dry mouth is miserable. That is my body, not a diagnosis I would put on anyone else.
