Is it common to feel grief or anger once ADHD meds show you how different life could be?
Since starting medication in my 20s, I can suddenly do things that felt impossible before. I'm grateful, but I'm also quite angry and sad about how much I've struggled and 'failed' in the past without any support. Is this sort of emotional reaction something you see regularly in newly treated adults, and how do you suggest people process it?

Yes, that reaction is more common than people realize. When someone experiences improved focus and clarity, it can highlight how hard things were before. That contrast can bring grief for missed opportunities or years of self criticism. It can also bring anger at systems or earlier misunderstandings. Those feelings are valid. Part of treatment is making space for that emotional processing. Medication can improve functioning, but healing often includes self compassion and reframing your past with new understanding.
