I feel relief rather than disappointment. Curious if others feel the same.

I think the relief may come from the incredible effort you put in daily to just function. ADHD can be exhausting. It is like a never ending pull to get things done, but you always feel like your running late. This is a very common feeling many of my patient feel prior to starting the ADHD medication and or therapy. ADHD is overwhelming. Going out with friends and family can be overwhelming. Just think about the amount of projects that get started and are waiting to get completed due to your ADHD. If someone said that a particular project was cancelled and off your plate, you would feel relieved. The same goes for socializing. The ADHD mind always says "no, seriously, this will only take an hour or two, then I'll be outta there". When really you are 1/2 hour late getting there and then you get into a topic that interests you and 3 hours have gone by. You know the drill, you will then feel badly about the time that was unaccounted. The relief of an event being cancelled is very normal because you do know this will allow you to actually get the rest you require.
