Feeling as if your body clock is off after starting ADHD medication is not unique to one person, though it is not a labelled diagnosis of weekly jet lag. Sleep disruption and insomnia are labelled effects of stimulants, and some people describe a recurring mismatch between when they feel tired and when they want to sleep. The exact reason a body-clock metaphor fits for some people is not fully understood. If the change is persistent, distressing, or affecting daily functioning, bring a brief timeline to the prescribing clinician rather than changing the dose independently.

I started a stimulant and for a few weeks I felt like my sleep window had slid, even though I had not flown anywhere. Hungry at weird times, wrecked at 8pm, then staring at the ceiling. I kept calling it weekly jet lag to my partner. I wrote down when it was worst and took that to my prescriber instead of messing with timing myself. Still not sure if it was insomnia or just me adjusting. Only my experience, not a reason for anyone to change their meds.
