This feeling is very common in ADHD. Because tasks take more mental effort and time, there is often a constant sense of lag, even when you are functioning well. The brain is always scanning for what was missed or delayed.
Years of feedback about being behind can also create a persistent internal narrative of inadequacy. Even during calm periods, the nervous system may stay in catch up mode.
This does not mean you are failing. It means your brain has learned to operate under chronic pressure.
