Yes. Teens with ADHD often understand their challenges before they have language for them. Repeated experiences of falling behind, forgetting things, or feeling different can shape how they view adulthood. Some become pessimistic, anxious, or unsure about their future, even if they’re capable.
Clinicians see this as an impact of lived experience, not lack of ambition. Without proper support, teens may assume things will always feel harder. With understanding, accommodations, and treatment, outlook often improves significantly. Early validation matters a lot for how teens imagine their future.
