One of my biggest struggles is constant overthinking. In your experience, do stimulant medications tend to calm this down in adults with ADHD, or can they sometimes amplify it, especially if there's anxiety as well?

For many adults, appropriate stimulant treatment reduces mental noise. Thoughts feel more linear and less chaotic. However, if the dose is too high or anxiety is untreated, stimulants can sometimes amplify rumination or tension. That is why careful titration and follow up are important. Medication should make your brain feel clearer, not wired. If overthinking increases, we reassess dose, timing, sleep, and coexisting anxiety. It is very individualized.
