Is ADHD better understood as a spectrum rather than a binary diagnosis?

Clinically, ADHD traits exist along a continuum. Attention, impulsivity, and regulation vary across people and situations. A diagnosis is made when these traits cause consistent impairment, but that cutoff is somewhat artificial. Thinking of ADHD as a spectrum helps explain why symptoms change over time and why two people with the same diagnosis can look very different. It also supports more individualized treatment, rather than a one size fits all approach.
