Is the idea that ADHD is really just a "special gift" that shouldn't be medically treated a fair framing?
Encountered a fairly strong opinion online framing ADHD purely as a unique cognitive gift, creativity, out-of-the-box thinking, and that seeking medical treatment is essentially trying to suppress or 'fix' something that isn't actually broken. Curious how to think about this framing without dismissing the genuinely positive traits some people do experience.

Definitely have some of the creative, out-of-the-box traits people romanticize, but also nearly lost my job before treatment, those aren't contradictory, both were real. Treatment didn't kill the creative side, if anything having fewer crises to manage gave me more actual space to use it.
