If ADHD meds help my focus at work, is it OK if evenings still feel chaotic?
On my current dose I can finally get through my workday, which is brilliant, but my evenings are still an absolute mess. From your point of view, is that considered a decent response, or would you normally keep adjusting until home life improves as well?

Yes, this is actually very common. ADHD medications tend to support focus, task initiation, and sustained attention during the hours they are active in your system, but they don’t “fix” ADHD around the clock. When the medication wears off later in the day, the brain often returns to its baseline patterns, which can feel especially noticeable after a structured workday. By evening, mental energy is also lower, executive function is more taxed, and there’s usually less external structure, all of which can amplify ADHD symptoms.
This doesn’t mean the medication isn’t working or that something is wrong. Many adults with ADHD find that evenings are better suited for low-demand, low-decision activities. Planning gentler routines, simplifying choices, and avoiding high-stakes tasks at night can make a big difference. If evening chaos is significantly impairing quality of life, it’s reasonable to discuss timing, formulation, or non-medication strategies with your provider.
