do meds actually help emotional regulation or is that mainly therapy territory?
i’m trying to figure out what to expect: do stimulants help with emotional swings at all, or is that mostly something therapy tackles?
curious how clinicians usually explain the difference.

For many adults, stimulants do help with emotional regulation because they improve impulse control and reduce overwhelm. When your brain feels less scattered, emotional reactions can feel less explosive.
That said, medication is not a full emotional skills toolkit. Therapy helps with awareness, coping strategies, and processing. Often the best outcomes come from both. Meds can create stability, and therapy builds long term resilience.
