Yes, ADHD can present this way, especially in high functioning adults. Some people compensate so well that the most visible symptom is chronic procrastination. Underneath that procrastination is often difficulty with task initiation, time estimation, and emotional regulation around effort. Because these individuals may perform well under pressure, their struggles are often minimized by others and by themselves. Clinicians look beyond surface behavior and explore patterns over time, including burnout, anxiety, and exhaustion from last minute effort. Procrastination in ADHD is not about avoidance or laziness. It is usually a sign of executive dysfunction that has gone unrecognized for years.
