Some people describe ADHD becoming much harder around the mid-forties, and some then ask an ADHD clinician about hormone therapy. A sharp change at 46 can reflect perimenopause, an unmasked ADHD history, sleep disruption, mood change, or a mix. It does not by itself prove that a hormone shift has caused ADHD, and it does not make HRT an ADHD treatment. HRT may be considered for menopausal symptoms, but it is not a treatment for ADHD.

I asked my ADHD clinic about hormone therapy after everything blew up at 46, and they sent me back to menopause care rather than rewriting my ADHD plan on the spot. That was frustrating and also kind of clarifying. I was waitlisted for a proper ADHD review for ages, which did not help the story. I did not start HRT from a forum. Only my timeline.
