is it true some people with adhd don’t react well to caffeine?
i keep hearing that adhd folks can get sleepy or calm from caffeine instead of wired.
does that actually mean anything clinically or is it just internet myths?

Yes, that can absolutely happen. ADHD brains process stimulation differently. Some people feel more focused with caffeine, while others feel sleepy or oddly calm. It is sometimes described as a paradoxical response.
Caffeine acts on dopamine and adenosine systems, which overlap with ADHD pathways. For some, a small amount can help with alertness. For others, it increases anxiety or crashes. There is no single “right” response. It really depends on individual neurochemistry and sensitivity.
